The topic I chose is pirate punishment. I am focusing on the severe
punishments that pirates/captives received for misbehaving on board a pirate
ship. My aim is to show that pirates aren’t what they show us in the movies,
that they were truly vicious. My goal is to figure out which of their many
methods of punishment/torture was the most unethical, which punishment was most
feared by the ship’s crew. I found this topic interesting because before
starting this project I had no idea that there were so many violent
punishments, I felt kind of stupid to think that marooning and walking the
plank were the only punishments pirates were capable of. So with this project I
